Down the street, passed the same shops. The wig store playfully named Harriette. A Chinese market where the lady at the cash register was always yelling at some stock boy in Cantonese or whatever. A second hand clothing shop. Some new urban bar/grill thing with large windows and waitresses that were forced to wear short black dress two sizes to small for them. She would continue till the train, then probably turn around and head home if nothing exciting happened. Which it wouldn't, she knew that.
Her brisk walking speed was cut short as she found herself waiting behind a jumble of people in suits and fancy shoes, who were stepping over a homeless man sleeping directly in front of a Starbucks. She stood anxiously for a moment waiting for the people in front of her, when suddenly, she was struck with a dirty crumply peace of paper that covered most of her face. For a moment, she didn't move...Then the moment passed. She pulled it off, leaving behind a look of disgust that was mostly only visible in her eyes and the way was bearing her teeth.
It was a home made flier with little rip tabs at the bottom that had an email address printed on them. She stopped and stood in the middle of the side walk creating yet another obstacle, in addition to the homeless man, that people had to now negotiate. She smoothed the paper out and looked at it.
"Time travel!" She laughed out lowed which attracted some attention. Not as much as might be expected, but some.
"Sure" she thought. "Why not? This'll be good for a laugh...Well, another laugh anyways."
Katie folded the flier up nicely and put it in her pocket before awkwardly stepping over the homeless man and going into Starbucks.
